What is Office 365? (www.office.com)
Office 365 is the modern
version of the traditional Microsoft Office Suite of Applications such as
Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. However, there are some differences.
Unlike, traditional Office applications Office 365 has a cloud component allowing
a user to use web versions of Office applications accessed through any web
browser. In addition, some versions of Office 365 allow a user to install
desktop versions of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook on 5 different
devices. This ensures a user will always have access to Office
applications from a variety of devices and locations.
Not only does Office 365
give a user access to all of the Office applications they are accustomed to,
there are MANY more productivity and collaboration tools available with Office
365. Some these additional applications include Teams, One Drive, and One Note.
MS TEAMS
TEAMS is perhaps the
single greatest addition to the Microsoft applications lineup since Word and
Excel were introduced. TEAMS allows an organization to maximize communication
and interaction between internal and external teams/organizations.
TEAMS is a unified
communication and collaboration platform that combines persistent workplace
chat, video meetings, file storage (including REAL-TIME collaboration on
files), and application integration. The service integrates with the an
organization’s Office 365 subscription office features extensions that can integrate
with non-Microsoft products and other companies TEAMS environments. This allows
organizations to integrate processes and collaboratively work on projects in a
productive and cost-efficient manner.
ONE DRIVE
One Drive is a cloud-based file and data management system. One Drive
is the overarching data management system for Office 365, the glue that holds
all Office 365 data services together. It allows employees to share documents,
track projects, automatically input data, collaborate online, access files remotely,
backup desktop data, and a whole lot more.
ONE NOTE
One Note is a digital
note taking application. With the emergence of tablet pc’s and the ability to
use a stylus pen to write and draw, Microsoft’s One Note allows users to keep a
digital note pad and organize notes in an efficient manner. Since One Note is a
part of Office 365, a user can access notes from a variety of locations and share notes/collaborate in real-time with other users.
